Happy Thanksgiving

Now that I'm out of my funk. :) I just wanted to wish everyone (in the US) a very Happy Thanksgiving. I have many things to be thankful for this year. My fabulous husband, my family and friends, we have a place to live that is warm and we have food to eat,and I have found a wonderful, supportive community that gets bigger all the time.

Thanks for stopping by today. I am thankful for you.

Love.

I'm grumpy

I know...it's two days before Thanksgiving and I'm supposed to be feeling all thankful and cheery. I've been sick since last Thursday and I think my body is falling apart. I'm too young for that, right?

I'll be back tomorrow or Thursday with a little more gratefulness to show. :)

Happy anniversay

My sweet husband,

This past year has taught me so much about who you are, and who we are together. In many, many ways it has been the best year of my life. Of course, we have had our struggles, but I am confident that we will get through them all and we will do it together. I am comforted by your strength, your care and your enduring support.

On this day, our first anniversary, I would like to tell you just a few of the ways you make me feel special.

You value my opinions and ideas.
You share your thoughts with me.
You care what the house looks like.
You like to have a beer and a burger with me.
You are always willing to help.
You rub my shoulders when they hurt.
You take on (more than) your share of the chores.
You want what I want.
You smile when you see me.
You really, truly see me.
You like my cooking.
Even when you don’t agree with me, you try to understand what I feel.
You are willing to go through all of this crap so that we can have a family.
You are strong and calm when I am not.
You listen when I just need to get it out.
You love the dogs.
You fix things.
You support my effort to live a more creative life.
You are always there when I need you. Always.
You get mad at yourself when you leave your wedding ring at home.
You put up with my indecisiveness about where to eat.
You spend time with me.

Yeah, you are pretty much the best husband in the world. I am such a lucky girl.

I love you so, so, so much. Forever and ever.

birthday girl

This is my Gaga. My great grandmother. She turned 106 last Friday. Isn't she beautiful?

Dave and I visited on Saturday. She doesn't remember too much these days, but when I call her Gog or Gaga (our family name for her) she knows that we are somehow related. She likes to kiss my hand and tell me that she will always remember our visit. I'm amazed by her vitality. Aside from her loss of sight and most of her hearing, she has remained in good health all this time. Might have something to do with her German blood.

When I was younger, I always thought how great it would be when I had children and we could gather 5 generations together. After my grandma passed away a few years ago, that dream vanished. But I still have held out hope that we will have a baby before Gaga goes. At 106, I'm not sure that will happen. Somehow, I am able to tie everything back to infertility.

What's next?

That's what I'm wondering today. Yesterday turned out to be a strange day indeed. On the high of the election I thought I would have a great day, but life has a way of balancing out the good with the bad I guess. Here's the list, so far (please let this be it!):

* A dear friend of the family was told she has cancer and is to start Chemo immediately. My thoughts are with you L.

* Dave's neice was layed off. What a time to be looking for a job! I have my finger's crossed for her.

* And just before bed, a call from the same neice that her mom, my SIL, is in the emergency room and has to have surgery today on her finger. Apparently, her dog bit it while playing. Not sure of all the details yet.

For the love of &*%@!. Can't I just have ONE GOOD DAY?

It's a good day

We spent the evening at The Brotherhood in downtown Oly surrounded by very, very happy people:

(I wouldn't recommend listing to the sound. Not sure what happened to it.)

Hope is a beautiful thing.
